We have a contractor for the West 5th Street Overlay project, Blacktop Services of Humboldt, Iowa will be the contractor on the project!
The project is not slated to begin until after school is out for the summer so we have some time yet before trucks will be moving in but knowing who the contractor is and what the bid amount for the project is going to be are big steps toward actual construction happening!
Residents and visitors should note that due to West 5th Street being a major corridor through town this project will be disrupting traffic flows throughout the summer. We recommend that citizens and visitors book mark the project page and stay in touch with the project blog for continual updates on the project status. We will also be tweeting out when we do an update on the City's Twitter account @Storm_Lake and will be posting notices on our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/cityofstormlake). We encourage you to follow us on Twitter and like out page on Facebook for updates on this project and other things happening within the City.
The next big step will be a pre-construction meeting with the contractor in which we'll get further details on schedule and we'll have discussion on the all the potential conflicts that we have to work around for this project. Stay tuned here for more updates!
